Jesus said: Here I am amoung you as one who serves. Luke 22:27
THANK YOU to the 50+ hardy souls who braved the worst weather of the season to date to attend worship and our Budget and Election Meeting. After significant questions and discussion, a budget was adopted. Although the format and amounts, basically follow last year's budget, there was one significant change. The amount budgeted for Mission Support (regular Synod Benevolence) has been reduced from $30,000 to $20,000. As required by the Synod, the Council will be in consultation with the Bishop's office.
THANK YOU to the six (6) individuals who were willing to stand for election to Church Council: Dawn B., Dan D., Bill D., Paul E., Chris G., and Matt N. They will be joining our continuing members: Maggie B., Wayne C., Jack K., Jacob M., and Jacob S.
THANK YOU to those who have served faithfully on the Council and have completed their terms: Margaret D., Nancy L., and Donna S-M.
I very much look forward to working with the new Council as your servant leadership team as we support you in worship experiences, enable you to identify and use your spiritual gifts, and enable you as individuals and collectively to live more fully into the baptismal covenant.
As I have shared at previous Council Meetings, during various conversations and in part at the meeting, I believe there are several areas that need significant work as we prepare to move forward during this time of congregational transition:
1) Transparency and clarification of financial holdings and income stream.
2) The development of a cohesive, cooperative and mutually supportive leadership team (extending beyond the Council).
3) A review of our Constitution, By-Laws and Continuing Resolutions to see what type of skeleton (committees) is needed to support you and our common worship, mission, and ministry.
4) That which is needed in almost every organization -- Communication!
MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW!! As you will see elsewhere, our Annual Meeting will be on Sunday, February 9th at approximately 11:30 following our worship experience. Hope to see you all there.
I remain yours in Christ.
Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for this Christ Lutheran Church. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP p.817)
