LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEARS ... OH MY!
PASTORS AND PRIESTS AND FATHERS … OH MY … OH MY!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am the Rev. Dennis A. Blauser and I am so pleased to be among you as your interim pastor. Because I am also an Episcopal priest, one of the most common reactions has been: "What do we call you?" During my ordained ministry, I have primarily gone by Father Denny. However, during my prior Lutheran interim, I was very comfortable with Pastor Blauser, or if you prefer a less format address, you may choose Pastor Denny. Whatever you are comfortable with, so am I.
As I am part-time, I will be in the office, usually on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at worship on Thursdays and Sundays. Office days may change occasionally due to parish emergencies and my family plans. I will be present at Council meetings, many of our committee meetings and available to address your personal, family and corporate pastoral needs and concerns. When possible I will try to let you know of changes via the Sunday announcements and through the RDR. I pray I can be a helpful resource as you continue on your spiritual journey during this period of time while you prepare to search for and call a new pastor. Please feel free to contact me at ANY TIME if you or loved ones have a pastoral emergency or unexpected hospitalization. My cell is 724-699--3747.
My wife, Nancy (Irvine), and I have lived in Hermitage since 1984. We have five adult children: Dionis, William, Johanna, Erin and Wesley. We are also blessed with ten grandchildren. My spiritual foundation was built at St. Clement's Episcopal Church, Greenville. I graduated from Reynolds High School in 1965 and worked for the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad from 1966-68 and 1972-1976. I served in the United States Navy from 1968-1972. I graduated from Thiel College in 1974 and Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL (1976-1979).
Since ordination in 1979 I have served all my ministry in the Diocese Northwestern PA - at churches in Brookville, Punxsutawney, Hermitage, New Castle and Greenville and 12 1/2 years as the Archdeacon (assistant to the Bishop) of the Diocese. I have served on many Diocesan, Provincial and National ministries. One of my passions is youth ministry and I just completed my 40th year on staff at our Diocesan summer Camp. Since my retirement in 2015 I have served several Episcopal and Lutheran congregations in northwestern PA and eastern Ohio as short and long term supply and served as Interim Pastor at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville (July'17 - November'18).
I hope that you will share your personal and faith stories with me as we journey together and serve our Lord Jesus Christ during this interim time. May God bless our time together, guide us as we follow our Lord Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life, and give us His peace during this time of transition.
"Almighty Father, whose blessed Son before his passion prayed for his disciples that they might be one, as you and he are one: Grant that your Church, being bound together in love and obedience to you, may be united in one body by the one Spirit, that the world may belief in him whom you have sent, our Son Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen." (BCP, p.255)
